Rock-a-Block Party at Elim Tabernacle, Saturday, August 18, 2007

Elim Tabernacle had the opportunity to minister to an inner-city neighborhood on a drizzly Saturday afternoon. The people of 8^th Street and Lapham were the recipients of our Block Party from noon to 3pm on August 18^th.

At our Rock-a-Block, the neighborhood was treated to free brats, chips, water, and soda. We had live gospel music, games for the children, and free give-a-ways. We gave away  a bicycle every 15 minutes, and also distributed sleeping bags, backpacks filled with school supplies, fans, grocery and restaurant gift certificates, iPods, microwaves, toys, baby items, clothes, and tennis shoes. We also took teams into the neighborhoods and cleaned up the area before we left. By giving away food and prizes, we attracted many people to these events and then were able to address topics such as the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, staying in school, and the importance of secondary education. Over 72 people indicated on their registration card that they were interested in a Bible Study!

People stood in long lines for brats and drinks as the rain began to fall. But over 500 stayed for the entire event. We also had a prayer tent, and many people waited in the rain  to receive a free Bible and to be prayed for. One lady who asked for prayer of deliverance from alcohol and cocaine was filled with the Holy Ghost!

What a joy it is to be in the highways and byways for the Lord!
