In 1943, Rev. Swanson considered the beginnings of a new church in Milwaukee. He began topray and seek God about this. Being concerned that the new church would have the proper name, he asked God to help him. During a time of prayer, as his Bible was opened, his eyes fell upon the scripture in Exodus 15:27,  “And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees and they encamped there by the waters.”  From that time until now, Elim Tabernacle has been a continual place of refreshing and restoration

 No Perfect People Allowed…we are trying to become more and more like Jesus. You don’t have to look any certain way or have all of your spiritual ideas figured out… no matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you will always be welcome at Elim; a place where people are more concerned with Jesus than they are with religion…because Jesus Christ has offered to us His perfect love.

We are, without the stereo-typical judgmental attitude that some have come to expect when they come to a church,  doing our best to offer the same kind of love that Jesus has offered to us.
